Until
1990 Geevor was a working mine employing, at its peak, 400 men - most of them
from the remote Pendeen and St.Just areas. Today the mine is managed by the Trevithick Trust for Cornwall County Council and is a unique and powerful experience for all ages. One entry ticket covers the whole site which comprises 18 acres to explore. In the museum you`ll see the Geevor film and view the model of the underground workings . |
Tour
the surface plant of the largest preserved mine site in the UK, and explore the
underground adit mine (underground tours are suitable for most age
groups. In days gone by it is said that miners sang hymns as they were lowered into the gloom with just candles for light. your walking guided tour through the adit will be a constant reminder of hard rock mining and the harsh conditions that the miners had to endured in order `to win` the tin ore. Today, the main underground area of the mine is flooded to sea level. |

Site status representing tin mining. Opening Times January to March inclusive :- Monday to Friday 10 am to 4 pm. April to October inclusive :- Sunday to Friday plus Bank Holiday Weekends 10 am to 5 pm. November , December :- Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.
